A compact drone instrument with a tactile feel, the DIY Drone Synthesizer is built around four analog voice channels that can be played from touchpads or buttons. The touchpads respond to pressure, giving the performance a more expressive, hands-on character.
Each voice has its own sustain-release envelope and VCA, and the four channels are summed through a 4-channel mixer before reaching a resonant analog RC lowpass filter. The synth also supports frequency modulation between oscillator pairs, letting you push it from steady drones into more animated, shifting textures.
It runs on either a 9V DC adapter or batteries, and its mono 1/8" TS output keeps the setup simple and portable. Offered as a DIY or assembled standalone instrument, it fits naturally in experimental setups where raw analog tone and direct control matter most.
