Obsidian by Vannes is a semi-modular, monophonic synthesizer that fuses classic analog circuitry with a distinctly West Coast approach to timbre and control, inviting you to sculpt tones that feel alive and unpredictable.
At its core, a West Coast style oscillator section with waveshaper, wavefolder, cross-modulation and a dedicated sub-oscillator delivers everything from glassy, harmonically rich tones to snarling, folded textures. A voltage controlled multimode filter with lowpass, highpass and bandpass responses, continuous morphing between modes, and bipolar envelope modulation lets you shift seamlessly between smooth subtractive sweeps and more experimental, shifting spectra.
Two independent voltage controlled envelope generators (one ADSR, one AD(R)) with gate and velocity inputs, adjustable slew and levels, plus inverted outputs, give you precise dynamic control over the VCA, filter or any patch point you choose. A flexible LFO with saw, ramp, sine, pulse and random waves runs from glacial 0.01 Hz up to 100 Hz, syncable to tap tempo, external clock or MIDI clock for tightly locked modulation and rhythmic movement. Rounding things out, Obsidian includes a tape-style digital delay with voltage controlled time and feedback, also clock syncable for tempo-locked echoes and dirty repeats that glue your patches together. A West Coast inspired five-step sequencer, selectable between four or five steps and patchable to oscillators, filter or other CV destinations, turns the desktop format into a self-contained compositional playground, equally at home in a semi-modular setup or integrated into a larger Eurorack clock ecosystem.
