Action Filter (AF-1)

RackmountAnalog

Back in 2002, this unit kicked off Vermona's push into hands-on live filtering, distilling their classic DAF-1 design into a DJ-friendly powerhouse that's perfect for slamming house mixes or onstage tweaks.

It's a stereo analog beast with two 24dB/octave filters per channel—one highpass, one lowpass—working in BAND mode to carve out punchy passbands or NOTCH mode to scoop the mids and let highs and lows roar through. Smooth cutoff and resonance knobs let you sweep frequencies intuitively, while a rugged trigger button slams the bypass in and out for rhythmic cuts; flip a rear switch between ACF I's gritty edge and ACF II's cleaner vibe. Built tough in a shallow 1U rack (just 60mm deep, around 1.1kg), it packs phono RCA and line-level jacks upfront for turntables, plus jack ins/outs on later versions for studio flexibility—all powered by a simple 12V supply.

Over two decades, it's earned a cult following among DJs for its immediate, no-fuss analog warmth and seamless mixer integration, though some wish for more modes like the fuller DAF-1; that live-ready simplicity keeps it a go-to for vintage rack hunters today.
