Back in 1998, this beast took the digital wavetable world by storm as the hands-on upgrade to the Microwave series, packing a riot of knobs that let you sculpt sounds without endless menu diving—pure joy for anyone who hates button-mashing.

At its core, it's a 10-voice polyphonic digital synth with two wavetable oscillators per voice, drawing from 64 wavetables including classics like saw, triangle, and square, plus ring mod, noise generator, FM, and osc sync for wild timbres. Dual multimode filters offer 10 types—think 6/12/24dB low/high pass, FM filter, sin(x)-lowpass, waveshaper, bandpass, and more—paired with four envelopes (two ADSR, one 8-stage loopable, one free), two multi-wave LFOs, and a 16-slot mod matrix with math modifiers for near-modular flexibility. The front panel shines with 44 continuous encoder knobs, 9 switches, two 40-character LCD displays, and an alpha dial, all in a hefty 5U rack/desktop orange chassis with 20-bit D/A converters, stereo outs (plus assignable extras), audio input, and effects like chorus, flanger, delay, overdrive, and autowah. It's 8-part multitimbral with per-patch arpeggiators, 256 internal patches, and 128 multis.
