The 61-key weighted keyboard sits below a front panel organized around eleven buttons that let you navigate through parameters without drowning in menus. Beyond the synth engine, there's an integrated drum machine with 61 sampled rhythm voices, an eight-track sequencer capable of storing 16,000 notes, onboard effects processing with distortion, and a 3.5-inch floppy drive for saving your work. The unit weighs just over 11 kilograms and measures roughly one meter wide, with a subtle curve running along its profile that gives it a more sculptured feel than the flat DX-series synths that came before it.
The V50 earned respect from players who appreciated its completeness and the warmth that FM synthesis could deliver when properly shaped with effects.
