OpenElixir-02 is alternate firmware for the Erica Synths LXR-02 drum machine that extends its features while keeping kits, patterns, projects and the MIDI implementation compatible with the factory firmware. Each of the six voice slots can run any of the drum, snare, cymbal or hi-hat engines, chosen with SHIFT and KIT or by NRPN and saved with the kit, and single voices or whole kits can be loaded from any project on the SD card. Voices and effects are summed at 32-bit resolution with a limiter on each output, so loud kits don't hard-clip, and a config setting turns the limiter off for the factory mix. A DJ filter on the performance page sweeps from low-pass to high-pass with adjustable resonance. Turning knobs, working in menus and loading or saving kits and projects don't interrupt the audio or the sequencer during playback, and project saves are written so that a failed save cannot lose the existing project. It installs from the SD card with the LXR-02's built-in updater.
