Open500 adds a small loader to Akai MPC500 OS 1.31, allowing WAV-based add-ons to appear as native pages in the OTHER menu. Available tools include a 16-step grid sequencer, BPM and transient chopping, tempo warping, sample effects, pad utilities, live master effects and input monitoring. The HUB manages up to eight add-ons at once. The project website patches your own official OS 1.31 file locally in the browser. No hardware modification is required, and flashing the original OS removes the loader. Add-ons can be loaded from CompactFlash or placed in the autoload folder. Open500 reserves 896 KB of sample memory and has been tested by the developer on one MPC500 running OS 1.31.
