portkit (JB1+pk) is community firmware for the original 1010music Blackbox that adds mixing, effects and clip tools to the sampler. On top of a broad set of community additions, including master effects, per-pad insert effects, live input on a pad, extra delay, reverb and compressor types, added LFOs, chords, note conditions and USB audio and MIDI, it brings a master distortion with soft, hard, fold and tube modes, a third per-pad effects send feeding its own plate, room, hall or chamber reverb, and an SSL-style bus compressor. Clips gain a timing offset against the loop, a play-length setting, tempo stretching with a pitch-preserving smooth mode, short fades at the loop seam and a 1/32 sync step. The recorder can capture just the effect returns in stereo or audio played from a computer over USB, and pads keep their send settings when recorded into. Installation patches a copy of the matching stock firmware in a browser page, entirely locally, and produces two files to copy to the microSD card; the Blackbox installs them at power-up, presets from stock firmware still load, and reinstalling the stock file restores the original.
