Subharmonicon Tallent Edition is an unofficial firmware extension for the Moog Subharmonicon that adds new pitch modes, deeper MIDI control and an alternate rhythm mode, while keeping all of the instrument's original functions. Paraphonic mode tunes all six oscillators separately so the instrument can play up to six MIDI notes at once through its shared filter and envelopes. Harmony mode builds seventh chords from a chosen key and scale, with a bass note and a melody on the main oscillators. Morph mode sweeps each sub oscillator through restart patterns that range from steady tones to bursts and rattles. MIDI additions include velocity, legato glide, a second channel that triggers only the filter envelope, and control changes for the new settings, the rhythm knobs and the assignment buttons. A Gate Patterns rhythm mode replaces clock divisions with selectable four-bar sixteenth-note patterns, so the sequencers, the VCA envelope and the VCF envelope can each follow their own rhythm. New features are switched on and off from a settings mode on the panel. The firmware is made with a browser patcher that modifies a copy of the official firmware file locally, and the result is sent to the instrument using Moog's own update procedure.
Installing third-party firmware can brick your unit and may void its warranty. Back up first and follow the project's instructions.
