Daath is a witch-house bass machine for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Drifting saw oscillators and a sub voice feed asymmetric drive, a pitch-tracking lowpass and digital degradation, with tape-like pitch movement for dark, unstable textures. Swarm, Grave, Hex, Murk, Rot and Wow shape detuning, low-end weight, distortion, filtering, bit loss and pitch drift. Included presets provide starting points from clean bass to crushed and warped sounds, while a grimoire-style display follows the controls. Installation uses Open-XY.

Ohmonk brings a polyphonic chanting choir to the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Glottal pulses and breath excite a vocal-tract model, followed by a temple-style delay for sounds ranging from dry throat drones to spacious choral textures. Vowel morphs the articulation, Shape changes the vocal tract, Vibes adds expressive movement and Delay controls the surrounding space. Animated monks respond to notes and chords, and the OP-XY’s own filter, envelopes, LFO and send effects follow the engine. Installation uses Open-XY.

Tattva is an ambient synth for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY that surrounds held notes with wind, rain, surf and fire. These synthesized elements excite chimes, bells or glass tuned to the notes being played, creating evolving soundscapes without samples. One control page balances the elements; another sets the resonator type, excitation, decay and chime level. Weather continues across new notes and chords rather than restarting with every key press, while an animated shoreline follows the sound. Installation uses Open-XY.

Nonagon Suite adds experimental synth machines to the Teenage Engineering OP-XY, drawing on physical and mathematical phenomena. Its catalog machines include Sand, Cocoa, Coin, Fermi, Mach, Butterfly and Drop, exploring rattling resonances, changing pitch, motion and unusual spectral behavior. Each machine combines two pages of sound controls with a display that follows the modeled phenomenon. The voices use the OP-XY’s envelopes, filter, modulation and effects and can be selected through Open-XY. The repository also describes Ghost and Recur, which are outside the released catalog selection covered here.

Found Motive’s custom firmware expands the Teenage Engineering OP-XY with additional instruments and effects that run on the hardware. Its engines include a fingerpicked guitar, a tempo-locked groove kit, an eight-singer choir, a sample-free piano, upright bass and shaker, alongside tape effects and vocal autotune with harmonies and freeze. Built using Open-XY, the project brings new sound-design options into the instrument’s existing workflow. The creator’s website provides downloads, demonstrations and installation instructions. This firmware is for the OP-XY; it is not an OP-1 or OP-1 Field release.

Synth parts and drum kits can run together, with independent loop lengths, chord sequencing and recorded knob movements helping short patterns develop into longer arrangements. Per-track effects, shared delay and reverb, a mixer, scenes and performance controls support building and playing complete tracks on the instrument. Companion browser tools handle user drum sounds, kits and project management. A browser demonstration, learning materials and a manual provide ways to explore the workflow, alongside a USB installer for the device.

Hersen MPC turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a sample-based drum machine with two banks of pads, sample recording, trimming, reverse playback and chopping. Step sequencing, velocity, swing and song arrangements support building beats directly on the device. A mixer provides pad levels, mute and solo controls, alongside filtering, chorus, delay and reverb. The browser sample editor transfers sounds over USB MIDI and saves or restores complete projects on a computer. Samples can use 8-bit or 12-bit encoding. Installation through the creator’s FM-1 Manager requires an account and a purchased serial number.

MPC3000 (Beta) is Clevedon Road’s firmware mod for the Akai MPC3000, adding visual waveform editing directly on the sampler. It lets you view a sample’s waveform and set edit points on the machine. Access is through a private beta waitlist. Installation requires the original MPC3000 floppy drive or a Gotek or compatible floppy emulator; SCSI-only setups are not supported. Beta access is limited to selected owners with compatible hardware configurations.

It adds a synth engine, a sequencer, six effects, an LFO, chords, scales, a Shift latch on the knob presses and MIDI CC control of almost every knob. It runs on the OP-1's own processor, on top of firmware 246. Your tape, sounds and albums are not touched by installing it.

The operating system loads at startup from a floppy disk image or floppy emulator, without replacing ROM chips or modifying the hardware. Removing the disk and restarting returns the machine to its original operating system. This version is intended for the Akai S900; use the model-specific download linked from the project website.

SilverTape is modified firmware for the original Teenage Engineering OP-1 that expands tape editing, the Finger sequencer and drum-sampler envelopes. The tape screen displays waveforms inside clips, and four encoder-linked waypoints let you jump to positions on the tape timeline. Finger adds sound preview, step editing, chords and individual note nudges for timing changes and strums. Each sampled drum key gains its own attack, decay, sustain and release envelope. The browser patcher builds a firmware file locally from your own unmodified stock R246 .op1 file; it does not install the result. SilverTape does not support OP-1 field and cannot be combined with other custom firmware. Tape waypoints disappear at restart, while drum envelopes save with their kits. Extra Finger chord notes and timing offsets save internally but are not included in normal DISK exports.

SUPERFREAKER is an unofficial firmware modification by Freakier Firmware for the Arturia MicroFreak, built for official firmware 5.0.0.2084. Its free Essentials pack adds separate envelope release, legato glide, preset volume, transpose, Shift latch, a metronome, sequencer shortcuts and extra MIDI controls. The optional free Loud pack increases headphone and main-output levels. The Essentials+Sound bundle adds drive, lo-fi processing, noise, tremolo, wavefolding, a sub octave and tape echo with Echo, Reverb, Reverse and Hold modes. Essentials and Loud are in open beta; Essentials+Sound is a $30 bundle currently in invite-key beta. A browser patcher builds the modification from the owner’s official firmware file locally, and Arturia MIDI Control Center installs the result. The playable browser simulator offers interactive lessons for the features; it is a learning model rather than the actual firmware.
