Midimoog

RackmountAnalogMonophonic

Back in 1989, this rackmount wonder squeezed the legendary guts of a genuine Minimoog Model D into a tidy 4U space, adding MIDI to unleash those classic fat tones in any modern setup.

Three analog VCOs drive the sound, with one doubling as an LFO featuring wide-ranging waveshapes, while a dedicated new LFO lets you blend triangle or sine with Osc 3 for richer modulation—trading off the original noise source but gaining serious flexibility. The iconic 24dB/octave lowpass ladder filter pairs with a single ADSR envelope for VCF and VCA, controlled via familiar knobs for cutoff, resonance, attack, decay, and sustain, plus a release switch. Seven toggle switches handle triggering modes, velocity, aftertouch, pitchbend limits, and more, with five extra knobs for MIDI channel, filter dynamics, and LFO tweaks. Rear panel offers hi/lo mono outs, audio in, and full MIDI In/Out/Thru, all in a 19-inch wide panel that's dense but intuitive, mimicking the Minimoog's layout.

Players like Fatboy Slim and Jean-Michel Jarre snapped these up for their authentic warmth on basslines and leads, and collectors still chase them today for that pure analog Moog soul in a compact module. Rare finds command top dollar, but if you spot one, it's a time machine to monosynth heaven.
