COSMOS

M-VAVE FM-1github

COSMOS is a drone synthesizer for the M-VAVE FM-1 whose sound follows the sky and weather at a chosen location. A continuous drone supports layered instruments shaped by sunlight, cloud cover, air pressure, the moon and geomagnetic activity. The display draws the sun, moon, planets and stars, while a sweeping star arpeggiator turns their positions into notes. WiFi brings in weather and space-weather readings, while offline and manual modes let the instrument run without a live connection or put those sources under the knobs. Planet selection changes the harmony, and the keyboard plays chords over the evolving texture. A browser emulator provides a way to explore the controls and sound.

FM-SWITCH

M-VAVE FM-1fm-1.drewr.dev

FM-SWITCH is a free native firmware manager for the M-VAVE FM-1. It lets you browse firmware, save it for offline use and switch the connected FM-1 over USB. It checks firmware packages and the connected device before installation, verifies the result afterward and can resume an interrupted install. Optional iCloud sync keeps saved firmware available across Apple devices. The app can back up projects and samples when the FM-1 is running M-VAVE’s open firmware. On Mac, it also supports whole-flash backup and restore through the FM-1’s download mode. The desktop app requires macOS 14 or later; iPhone and iPad versions are available through TestFlight. Windows and Linux builds are not listed by the developer.

Daath

OP-XYgithub.com

Daath is a witch-house bass machine for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Drifting saw oscillators and a sub voice feed asymmetric drive, a pitch-tracking lowpass and digital degradation, with tape-like pitch movement for dark, unstable textures. Swarm, Grave, Hex, Murk, Rot and Wow shape detuning, low-end weight, distortion, filtering, bit loss and pitch drift. Included presets provide starting points from clean bass to crushed and warped sounds, while a grimoire-style display follows the controls. Installation uses Open-XY.

Ohmonk

OP-XYgithub.com

Ohmonk brings a polyphonic chanting choir to the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Glottal pulses and breath excite a vocal-tract model, followed by a temple-style delay for sounds ranging from dry throat drones to spacious choral textures. Vowel morphs the articulation, Shape changes the vocal tract, Vibes adds expressive movement and Delay controls the surrounding space. Animated monks respond to notes and chords, and the OP-XY’s own filter, envelopes, LFO and send effects follow the engine. Installation uses Open-XY.

ESTAMPIE

M-VAVE FM-1github

ESTAMPIE turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a four-track groovebox for medieval-inspired music, from plucked lutes and citoles to hurdy-gurdy drones, reed instruments, chant and percussion. Thirteen sound engines cover virtual analog, six-operator FM, phase distortion, chiptune, samples, vocal sounds, granular synthesis, physical modeling, organ, noise and drums. Medieval modes and Pythagorean, meantone and just tunings support its musical palette. Each track has a 64-step sequencer, an arpeggiator and chord controls. Step probability, ratchets, conditional triggers, Euclidean patterns and parameter sequencing help build evolving arrangements, with insert effects and per-track MIDI channels for performance. A browser emulator lets you play and record the instrument, while the web editor manages hardware sounds and backups. A separate Sound Lab lets you shape engines as a sequence plays and copy sounds as presets. Parchment and dark display themes give the instrument two distinct looks.

LXRXXL BAZZLINE

Akai Forcegithub

LXRXXL BAZZLINE is an eight-track bass synthesizer and sequencer for Akai Force and MPC OS. Each voice combines oscillator, FM or wavetable modes with sub and noise sources, swarm modulation, drive and Polivoks-style or diode filtering. Accent, slide, pitch modulation and arpeggiation shape acid lines, subs, Reese basses and more percussive bass sounds. Patterns follow MPC’s tempo and transport, with individual track control, a mixer, delay sends and a MIDI-triggered gate or ducking effect. Sound and performance slots move settings between projects, while the host project saves the complete instance. Touchscreen panels and Q-Link pages expose the controls. Installation requires MPC OS 3.x and root/SSH access on a first-generation device. The project’s licence restricts commercial use.

MODELAR

M-VAVE FM-1github.com

MODELAR is a drone synthesizer for the M-VAVE FM-1 built around four continuously sounding oscillators and an XY performance surface. Keys move a cursor instead of triggering conventional notes, changing the filter, modulation and effects together. Oscillator routings cover FM, ring modulation, sync and feedback. Gesture controls animate the pad for evolving textures and hands-on sound shaping.

HERA

M-VAVE FM-1github.com

HERA turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a chord groovebox with chord sets, rhythmic phrases and a Juno-style polyphonic sound engine. Combine arpeggios, strums and chord patterns in a step sequencer with ties, shuffle and live recording. Delay and reverb shape the output, while a browser workbench and manual support sound editing and learning the workflow.

MORPHEUS

M-VAVE FM-1github

MORPHEUS turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into an acid groovebox with a pattern sequencer inspired by Reason’s Matrix. Drum-machine voices, dual acid bass parts, breakbeats, an FM lead, a sub synthesizer and MIDI sequencing support building multitrack arrangements. A browser emulator and interactive walkthrough demonstrate its controls, while an online manual explains composing and performing patterns.

OPN-1

M-VAVE FM-1github

OPN-1 turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a synthesizer based on the Mega Drive and Genesis sound chips. FM voices, sampled drums, square waves and noise can be played from the keyboard or MIDI, with layered and split patch arrangements. Its companion web app edits and organizes patches, imports sounds from VOPM banks or VGM music, and streams original game music to the device.

Rainbow Mode (SMK-37 Port)

M-VAVE SMK-37 PROgithub.com

Rainbow Mode is a playful music instrument for the M-VAVE SMK-37, with character-based sounds, colorful note feedback and accompanying rhythms. Children can play along while a bass part follows the music, then change the mood and effects with simple controls. This keyboard port uses its own model-specific packages and installation instructions.

Maku37

M-VAVE SMK-37 PROgithub.com

Maku37 ports okumurari2’s MAKU ambience instrument to the M-VAVE SMK-37 PRO, with the keyboard adaptation by genkigenki. It starts with a randomly generated musical world in the selected key, built from four parts: pulse, floor, haze and voice. Performance actions such as sink, cascade, swell, wobble, lift, scramble and drift reshape the texture. The keyboard’s top-row buttons and wheels trigger those actions, 16 pads recall liked worlds or edit the pulse steps, and faders hold action amounts and space. Encoders control macros and the four part levels. MIDI clock uses USB. This is experimental replacement firmware, with distinct packages for supported model variants.

Granola OpenMPC

MPC ONE (Gen 1)github.com

Granola OpenMPC turns the original Akai MPC One into a standalone granular instrument through an independent application environment. Each part provides a grain cloud, filtering, modulation and grain-window controls, with parameter-lock pads and free-running gesture loops for shaping a performance. Shared delay, reverb, master processing and momentary effects bring the parts together, while a generative rhythm section and additional sound sources extend the instrument beyond granular playback. Projects and patterns store performance snapshots. The environment runs from an SD card, providing an alternative musical workflow on the MPC's touchscreen, pads and controls.

Oscairn

Behringer KickGitHub

Oscairn is an unofficial development platform for exploring synthesis, effects and sequencing workflows related to Behringer Kick. Its desktop tools combine a CLAP plugin host, an audio graph and an offline WAV renderer, with a step sequencer, basic synthesizer and tempo-synced delay for prototyping musical ideas. A simulated Kick-style front panel provides a desktop environment for trying controls and sequencing interactions. The project supports MIDI-clock following and parameter locks between plugins, and includes plugin scanning and benchmark tools. It remains experimental: many simulated controls are placeholders, and installation on physical Kick hardware is not supported.

Nonagon Suite

OP-XYgithub.com

Nonagon Suite adds experimental synth machines to the Teenage Engineering OP-XY, drawing on physical and mathematical phenomena. Its catalog machines include Sand, Cocoa, Coin, Fermi, Mach, Butterfly and Drop, exploring rattling resonances, changing pitch, motion and unusual spectral behavior. Each machine combines two pages of sound controls with a display that follows the modeled phenomenon. The voices use the OP-XY’s envelopes, filter, modulation and effects and can be selected through Open-XY. The repository also describes Ghost and Recur, which are outside the released catalog selection covered here.

Hexagon Suite

OP-XYgithub.com

Hexagon Suite brings a collection of complementary synth machines to the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Wane combines synthesis with cassette character, Bloom uses additive partials and formants, and Hollow models blown and bowed resonances. Orbit explores vector synthesis, Bend uses phase distortion and Moth pairs a folded oscillator with a lowpass gate. Each machine has two pages of controls and its own animated display. Matched levels help the voices layer and swap within a project, while the OP-XY’s envelopes, filter, modulation and effects remain part of the workflow. Choose the machines to install in the Open-XY builder.

Troupe

OP-XYgithub.com

Troupe is a vocal synthesizer for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. It morphs between vowels, changes vocal character and blends complementary voices into a small ensemble, with animated singers responding on screen. Vowel, Voice, Cast and Effort control articulation, character, ensemble balance and brightness. Authored waveforms generate the voices without recordings of singers, while the OP-XY supplies its amplitude envelopes, note releases and sequencing workflow. Installation uses Open-XY.

Metal is a metallic resonator synth for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. A two-operator FM exciter strikes a bank of resonant modes to produce atonal bells, impacts, drips and ringing percussion. Drop shapes the exciter’s pitch movement, Ratio sets its operator relationship, Stretch changes the resonances’ spacing and Modes blends in additional resonances. The OP-XY’s amplitude envelope shapes the complete sound, while included presets provide starting points for percussion and unusual pitched textures. Installation uses Open-XY.

Dungeon Tracker

M-VAVE FM-1github.com

Dungeon Tracker is a tracker-style FM groovebox project for the M-VAVE FM-1, pairing musical patterns with a dungeon crawl driven by the song. The project-specific guide explains how composition and the game interact. Its repository contains the firmware and build documentation for preparing device packages.

Hurdy Gurdy

OP-XYgithub.com

Hurdy Gurdy brings bowed-string synthesis to the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. A model of a rosined wheel excites the melody string, while shared drones and a buzzing bridge provide the sustained bed and rhythmic rasp of the acoustic instrument. Wheel, Buzz, Body and Unison shape the playing character, with Rosin, Coup, Drone and Tonic controls for friction, accents and accompaniment. The engine integrates with the OP-XY’s envelopes, filter, modulation and effects, and is installed through Open-XY.

Oldsun

OP-XYgithub.com

Oldsun is a Juno-inspired synth for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY, combining a warm oscillator and chorus with the character of a worn cassette. Shared tape movement gives chords a connected sense of pitch drift, flutter and age. Two pages of controls shape the oscillator, chorus and tape behavior, including warped, reversed and degraded textures. The OP-XY’s filter, envelopes, LFO and effects follow the engine, so it can be played and sequenced alongside the instrument’s other machines. Installation uses Open-XY.

Del Rio

M-VAVE FM-1github.com

Del Rio is a rhythm instrument for the M-VAVE FM-1 centered on hand percussion, including djembe, cajon, udu, clapsticks, maracas and triangle. Choose an accompaniment or play and record the instruments from the keys, then edit the loop step by step. Separate berimbau, tanpura and shruti-box modes provide melodic and sustained accompaniment.

Nightdrive

OP-XYgithub.com

Nightdrive is a feedback-FM bass machine for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Its compact voice moves from defined bass tones into unstable modulation and driven textures, accompanied by an animated night-driving scene. Speed sets the operator relationship, Tension controls feedback, Drift changes phase modulation and Glare adds overdrive. The four controls work within the OP-XY’s sequencing and sound-shaping workflow, and the machine is installed through the Open-XY builder.

Makohai

M-VAVE FM-1github

Makohai turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a generative groovebox inspired by early PC tracker music. Six lanes supply lead, arpeggio, pad, bass, drums and sound effects, with FM instruments, synthesized percussion and noise textures. Queue a musical style, blend it in lane by lane, or launch it at once; chord progressions, melody, rhythm and density controls shape the arrangement. Tracker-style slides, vibrato, retriggers, echo, panning and filters add detail to each lane. Mix generated parts with your own edited or live-recorded patterns, build longer arrangements and call breaks or drops during performance. Save sets on the FM-1, send parts over MIDI, and use the on-screen mixing desk to adjust groups of lanes. Scopes, meters and animated demo scenes can fill the display or sit behind the controls. A browser demo runs the same engine, and a dedicated web installer loads the firmware onto the FM-1.

GuitChordi

M-VAVE FM-1github.com

GuitChordi is a six-string instrument simulator for the M-VAVE FM-1, with keyboard playing, chord handling and strum or arpeggio performance controls. Its illustrated manual explains the instrument zones and playing modes, and a browser emulator lets players explore the interface. Flash-backed settings are unavailable, so it should be treated as a session-based instrument.

Monohull

M-VAVE FM-1github.com

Monohull turns the M-VAVE FM-1 into a focused monosynth with analog-modeled oscillators and a choice of ladder, OTA, Sallen-Key and state-variable filters. Unison, chorus, delay and reverb broaden its single-voice sound. The instrument accepts class-compliant USB MIDI; patch saving is unavailable, so sound changes are intended for the current session.

Liminal Hz

Akai Forcegithub

Liminal Hz is a convolution reverb for Akai Force and MPC OS, with impulse-response browsing and a touchscreen display of the space you are shaping. Load mono or stereo WAV impulse responses, adjust their start and end points, fade, stretch or reverse them, then shape the result with decay, feedback, pre-delay, tone and stereo width. Factory spaces provide starting points, and personal presets keep your chosen response and settings. A companion browser page on the same network lets a phone name presets and browse TONE3000 impulse responses. Separate builds support first-generation MPC/Force devices and 64-bit Gen 2 devices. Installation is unofficial and requires root access and the correct build for the device; the longer-impulse mode uses more processing power on first-generation hardware.
